ABOUT USU COMPANY Stacy Ahua is the founder and owner of Usu Company Candles, established in 2020. The youngest of 3 daughters born to Nigerian parents from the Tiv tribe, Ahua created Usu Company as a tribute to her culture. Translated from the Tiv dialect, "Usu" (pronounced "ooo-sue") can mean ‘light’ or 'fire’. In addition to providing quality, hand-poured candles with custom-blended scents, Usu Company uses storytelling and scent memory to make connections with people from all walks of life. Each candle includes a story card that recounts a personal message, a memory, or a reflection of Nigeria that inspired the candle's name and scent. Each exclusive NCMA candle is with the same storytelling ideas in mind; using elements of art, culture, lineage and meaning to create scents that evoke emotion and connection. Ahua uses her company's platform and products to encourage others to honor who they are, where they come from, and what they are passionate about--to blaze their own trail.
