Charleston Wears White - 10th Anniversary “The All White Dinner Party” Sunday, September 26, 2021” HISTORY: For 10 Years Charleston Wears White has been an exclusive and highly anticipated event for elite professionals and socialites in the Lowcountry. In 2008, local millennial business analyst- Henry Ravenel created the event centered around an evening of Jazz, networking and hors d’oeuvres at the former Toucan Reef Restaurant/Aquarium Wharf section of downtown. The event emerged as the Lowcountry’s best kept secret for African American professionals. CWW rotated to notable venues such as: No. 5 Faber, King Grants Golf Club, Vendue Inn Roof Top, King Street Grill, Vibez Restaurant, Huger’s 587 King, Suede Supper Club, Lake House at Bulow and many more.” A NEW ERA: As the event approaches its 10 Year Anniversary, Ravenel has passed the torch of responsibility to the Executive Board of the Charleston Area Black Caucus, a Political Action Committee, under the Diversity & Inclusion Council of the Southeastern Chamber. The evening will serve as a Party-with- Purpose welcoming new African American residents, businesses, industry professionals and entrepreneurs to Charleston, all while connecting them to existing organizations and potential colleagues. The event will feature LIVE MUSIC, Black Poetry, the Local Black Economy Forecast, Complementary Champagne Hour and a Dinner En Blanc themed experience featuring Lowcountry Chefs and cuisines. Enjoy the sounds of National recording artist - Violinist Dominique Hammons and the Dancing Deejay himself- D.J. Sly One. If your new to Charleston or a current resident wanting to connect with fresh minds and new faces, this event is your official welcoming and is just right for you. NOTES: Event Attire: Cocktail Dressy -White attire is a non-negotiable requirement to attend -Guests may coordinate color themed head coverings, shoes and accessories only -Non-ticket holders will not be permitted past registration VIP SECTIONS: $1000 seats 6. (strictly reserved for politicians, business owners and company executives) Elite Admission: $100 per ticket (strongly suggested for local professionals) General Admission: $50 per ticket (open to all) The Charleston Area Black Caucus was founded in January of 2020 as a Political Action Committee (PAC) by a group of local Millennial leaders who desired to ensure that the true influence of the African American Community in Charleston and its surrounding counties would be represented and respected amongst all political dealings within local, state, and national government. The Immediate 5 Year Plan: Register as many black voters as possible Educate the registered voters on the importance of registering and voting in every election cycle Provide Candidate forums where we vet and endorse candidates whom we believe will speak to the issues of the black community Lobby for issues that impact the black community; namely economic empowerment, social and civic welfare, education and political activity Hold fundraiser to build a proper budget and foundation to promote the plans and agendas, along with fostering political education throughout the black community.
