Youth Mental Health First Aid Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach staff how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders. Target Audience: All teachers or prospective teachers (Limited to 30 participants) Lunch Provided Workshop Presenter: Amy Gamble Olympian and Mental Health Speaker Amy Gamble has delivered over 100 talks in the last two years to various audiences. Amy’s passion is to educate and inform attendees about all things related to mental health. She has dedicated the last five years to educating participants in Mental Health First Aid, spending over 600 hours teaching courses in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio. Her prior career was working in Corporate America in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical segment where she developed a broad skill set in sales, marketing and leadership. Amy graduated from the University of Phoenix with a master’s degree in Organizational Behavior and from the University of Arizona in Communication. Amy was a Division I basketball player at the University of Tennessee and the University of Arizona. Today Amy works as a Life Coach/Peer Support Coach and speaker.
