MELROSE, MA — Bring your National Grid electric bill to the Melrose Energy Commission booth at the Victorian Fair this Sunday, September 12 and volunteers will help you change your plan to the 100% renewable energy option, says Mayor Paul Brodeur. The Mayor's Office says volunteers will staff the booth from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to explain the rate options and help anyone interested switch on the spot. Enrolling in this product is the easiest way for Melrose residents and businesses to significantly reduce their greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change and support the growth of renewable energy resources in New England, as well as help Melrose meet its commitment to be Net Zero by 2050, says Brodeur. More than 300 homes and businesses chose to switch to Melrose Community Power's 100% renewable energy option as a result of Brodeur's "100 for 100%" challenge launched in April. "Opting up is an easy and powerful way to help mitigate climate change," said Brodeur. "In just a few clicks, residents can run their homes on 100% renewable energy. Melrose continues to be a leader in sustainability, and this campaign's success is just one small example of that." The Mayor's Office says if you can't make it to the Victorian Fair, you can still switch to Melrose Local Green 100 here.
