FRANKLIN, WI — The Milwaukee Milkmen plan to make a shot for the top team in the American Association this week during a wildcard game Wednesday. It will be the second year in a row that the Milwaukee Milkmen has found itself approaching the playoffs. The team barreled through last year's season to become the American Association Championship winners. The team is currently ranked third place in the North Division of the American Association with a record of 59-41, according to Pointstreak.com. Milwaukee will go on to play the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks in a wildcard game Wednesday, a news release from the RailCats said. The first opportunity for Milwaukee to bring a playoff game home to Franklin Field will be Sept. 13. The winner of that series will go on for a shot in the American Association Championship. The Chicago Dogs beat the Winnipeg Goldeneyes last week, helping to secure Milwaukee's third-place seed and a playoff spot for the second year in a row, a newsletter from the team said. Chicago currently sits at the top seed. The achievement is a continuation of the record turnaround since 2019. In the span of two years, the Milkmen have gone from a 38-62 record in 2019 to a postseason qualifying and championship-winning team in 2020. With the regular season this year, the Milkmen will continue games this week vying for a Championship Series spot. Over the weekend, Milwaukee washed away the Gary RailCats in a three-game series to cement the playoff bid, a news release from Gary said.
