Seeking LEAD GUITARIST for alt rock / climate activism project

Hello out there! We are Now the Changes, an East Bay-based activist rock band. We are seeking a new lead guitarist to join us for some outdoor performance opportunities in the coming months and the recording of a new EP within the next year. Our approach is post-punk with a contemporary sensibility and some experimental touches. Our current lineup: a lead singer who plays rhythm guitar (South African-American, male), a bassist who sings backup vocals (Indonesian-American, male), and a drummer who also sings backup from time to time (Israeli-American, male). We also perform with a female lead/backup vocalist (Korean-American) on certain occasions. We welcome diversity of ethnic and gender identity in our group. We range in age from mid-30s to early 40s. We play 90% originals, all of them with social, political, ecological, and/or spiritual themes. We are currently re-envisioning our band mission to lend direct support to climate justice advocacy groups in the Bay, with the goal of playing live at protest actions in the next few months. So some flexibility in your work schedule is highly desirable – i.e., we might need to play at an action during the workday, probably about once or twice per month. One of our band members is deeply involved with Extinction Rebellion SF Bay, so we anticipate some upcoming opportunities to support their actions in October and November. We have a share in a practice space at Jack London Rehearsal. We are currently figuring out our approach to group practices after a hiatus, given the uncertainty around the delta variant. We may experiment with using covid home test kits before practices, or have singers masked. We want to make sure all our collaborators feel safe and heard when it comes to health concerns. We are all fully vaccinated.
