Seymour Ceremony Recognizes Local Emergency Services

By Jean Falbo-Sosnovich, Valley Independent Sentinel Sept. 7, 2021 SEYMOUR — Members of the Seymour Fire Department were recently sworn-in during a promotion ceremony, while another group of emergency services personnel were feted for their work during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Volunteers from both of Seymour's fire companies-Citizen's Engine Co. No. 2 and Great Hill Hose Co. No.1- gathered at Seymour High School Aug. 16, along with 14 fellow EMTs, police and emergency workers for the ceremony. Those sworn in were to the chiefs' positions were: Fire Chief Michael Lombardi Deputy Chief Christopher Edwards Assistant Chief David Van Wart Assistant Chief Quinn Levey Sworn in as fire commissioners were: Peter Sampiere Michael Julian Matthew Calzone Clay Jurgens Patrick Keough Great Hill Hose company officers sworn in were: Captain Gary Parkosewich 1st Lieutenant Jeff Cronin 2nd Lieutenant Ethan Lott Citizens' Engine company officers sworn in were: Captain Jon Rollinson 1st Lieutenant John Hannon III 2nd Lieutenant Angel Hernandez After the swearing-in ceremony, the following received Merit Citations for Distinguished Service during COVID-19: Paul Satkowski, Chief of Police Roberto Rinaldi, Deputy Chief of Police Michael Lombardi, Chief of Fire Department Christopher Edwards, Deputy Chief of Fire Department David Van Wart, Assistant Chief of Fire Department Quinn Levey, Assistant Chief of Fire Department Kyle Kelley, Chief of Seymour Ambulance Association Bryan Ryan, Deputy Chief of Seymour Ambulance Association Cindy Best, Assistant Chief of Seymour Ambulance Association Timm Willis, Fire Marshal Thomas Eighmie, Director of the Office of Emergency Management Tim Connors, Director of Facilities John Hannon III, C2 1st Lieutenant Ethan Lott, GH 2nd Lieutenant Willis was honored to see his fellow emergency workers recognized for a job well done, not just during COVID, but every day. "Regarding the citations that certain individuals received, I don't necessarily think these men and women did anything extraordinary," Willis said. "They did what we always do. When work needs to be done, the men and women of our Emergency Services do just that. We take on and will continue to take on whatever is asked of us, in hopes of keeping our community safe and moving forward."
