COOKSVILLE, MD — The Glenwood branch of the Howard County Library System has been undergoing an extensive renovation with a price tag of $630,000. While the project should be completed soon, library officials say, nationwide supply shortages and construction-related delays have slowed down the project. The renovation includes: Two new multi-use studios, enabling instructors to teach more classes for all ages and offer more space for public meetings. Refreshed children and teen areas with new seating and new children's information desk. New customer service and self-service areas, enabling patrons to pick up their own items on reserve. New passport office for greater confidentiality. Renovated vending café area in a new central location that serves as a snack area and social space. New back patio. While renovations are ongoing, the library is bringing back classes to its freshly refurbished meeting room. They are: Mondays: 10:30 – 11 a.m. Little Learners (2 – 5 years with an adult) Tuesdays: 10:30 – 11 a.m. 3..2..Fun (2-3 years with an adult) Wednesdays: 10:30 – 11 a.m. Play Partners (infant – 23 months with an adult) Fridays & Saturdays: 10:30 – 11 a.m. All Together Now (all ages) *Note: Saturday All Together Now classes will start on Sept 11. Space is limited to 50 people and tickets are available 15 minutes before the beginning of class.
