Press release from the City of Austin: September 2, 2021 Case: 21-2440051 Date: Wednesday, September 1, 2021 Time: 12:49 a.m. Location: 2400 Blk. E. Riverside Dr. Deceased: 67-year-old White male. Release of name pending Next of Kin notification On Wednesday, September 1, 2021, Austin 9-1-1 received multiple shots fired calls in the 2400 Block of E. Riverside Dr. Austin Police (APD) officers and Austin-Travis County EMS arrived on scene and located a male subject inside a tent with a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving measures, the male subject succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 1:38 a.m. by Dr. Escott. Homicide investigators and crime scene technicians responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. On September 2, 2021, the Travis County Medical Examiner's office conducted an autopsy and ruled the cause of death as gunshot wounds and the manner homicide.
