Police Seek Suspect In Road Rage Crash & Shooting In Santa Monica

SANTA MONICA, CA — A suspect in a road rage crash and shooting Monday left one person injured and police are asking the public to help locate him. The road rage crash and shooting happened near Yorkshire Avenue and Pico Boulevard about 1:20 p.m. Monday, according to Santa Monica police Lt. Rudy Flores. Officers arrived and the suspect and his vehicle were gone, Flores said. Witnesses told officers it was a hit-and-run and the suspect had slammed their vehicle from behind in a possible road rage incident. When the victims got out of their car, the suspect fired several shots at them leaving one person with a graze wound to the knee, Flores said. That person was taken to a hospital and treated for the injury. Police describe the suspect as a white man, about 20 to 25 years old. He is about 6 feet, 1 inch tall, with a thin build. He has tattoos on the right side of his face and was wearing a blue-and-white long-sleeve sweater, gray or tan pants and white shoes. His vehicle was described as a newer model black Mercedes-Benz four-door sedan. No further suspect description or photo was immediately available. Patch reached out to SMPD for more information. As of Tuesday afternoon, no further updates were available and it's unclear where the suspect is located.
