RI State Beaches Closed For The Season After Labor Day

NEWPORT, RI — Labor Day has come and gone in Rhode Island, and with it the unofficial end of the summer in the Ocean State. Starting Tuesday, all state beaches closed for the season. The end of the season means that beach facilities, restrooms and concession stands closed and lifeguards are not on duty, along with all other beach staff. The Rhode Island Department of Health will no longer monitor bacteria levels at beaches around the state until the start of the 2022 summer season. "Thank you to our hardworking staff who help to fulfill our mission to protect, restore, and promote our environment to ensure Rhode Island remains a wonderful place to live, visit, and raise a family," the Department of Environmental Management said in a statement.
