First, today's weather: Clear throughout the day. High: 101 Low: 68. Here are the top stories in Sacramento today: A parolee has been arrested in the death of a 61-year-old Land Park woman. Police arrested and charged Troy Davis, 51, with murder, arson, burglary, and sex assault in connection with her death. On Friday, a fire broke out at a house along the 2200 block of 11th Ave in Sacramento and police found a woman inside, deceased. The ensuing investigation brought police to Davis. Authorities do not believe the victim and the suspect knew each other. (ABC10)SacAnime brought the crowds back to downtown, with the first event held in the new SAFE Credit Untion Convention Center. The $180 million renovation and expansion of the convention center was completed earlier this summer, but the pandemic kept the crowds away. The SacAnime convention was expected to bring $6 million to the region, including hotel rooms and restaurant tabs and the convention center has 28 more events booked for the remainder of the year. (CBS Sacramento)Firefighters responded to an early morning house fire along Citadel Way, near Occidental Drive, Monday morning. A resident says they believe it was a cigarette that started the blaze. There were no reports of injuries. (CBS Sacramento)Several Sacramento Labor Day weekend festivals incorporated COVID-19 testing and vaccines into the events. The Broadway International Festival had a mobile testing facility just down the block from the entrance. The Rainbow Festival had both testing and vaccinations available. With the surge of cases due to the Delta variant, communities are looking for ways to get their members access to these services. These festivals bring out community members and help with access, resources and knowledge. (KCRA3)If you were thinking of wrapping up your summer rafting at the confluence or hiking Foresthill trail, you need to think again. The Bridge Fire sparked Sunday beneath the Foresthill Bridge and forced evacuations over the weekend as it spread across Foresthill Road. As of Monday morning, the Bridge Fire is 300 acres and 5% contained. The Lake Clementine area remains under an evacuation order. Clipper Gap and Applegate are under evacuation warnings.
