JOLIET, IL — Joliet's busiest corridor has several thousand cars and trucks using it daily and now there's even go karts racing up and down West Jefferson Street. On Labor Day Weekend, Karges real estate broker Brian Bessler posted a video on Facebook, informing his followers that he nearly ran over someone driving a go kart along eastbound Jefferson Street. "East Bound on Jefferson. Almost hit the dude changing lanes," Bessler announced. "Semi literally behind him! Mario Kart: Joliet Edition." The live video footage captured by Bessler's household. He founded the Facebook group last year called Joliet Area Bar & Restaurant Guide, drew 92 shares and more than 2,000 views within 24 hours of posting it on social media. "Seen a guy on a jet ski with wheels today in Joliet," one person responded. "I am so tired of it. Our neighborhood has four wheelers and dirt bikes flying everywhere," another person replied. "OMG. We have seen him numerous times. I can't believe he hasn't been killed yet," one person remarked. "That can't be street legal. Why don't they confiscate it?" added another commenter. On Aug. 30, Joliet's news radio station, WJOL, posted a story headlined, "ATVs Grow In Numbers Along Joliet And Crest Hill Roads." Footage from Bessler's video from Labor Day weekend is posted below.
