DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Phones were stolen from a Verizon store and a car was burglarized, according to the Downers Grove Police Department's crime blotter from the last week of August. Phones Stolen from Verizon Store Police say three men wearing black gaiter face coverings went into the Verizon store at 6238 Main Street on Aug. 29 and stole three phones. According to a police report, the men came into the men came into the store around noon and cut three phones from their tethers. Shortly after, an employee noticed the phones were missing, and police officers confirmed that the tethers had been cut. The stolen phones were listed as three Samsung Galaxy devices valued at a total of more than $2100. Car Burglarized in Advocate Good Samaritan Parking Lot According to police, a car was burglarized in the parking lot of Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, 3815 Highland Ave., on Aug. 30. The car was parked in a patient lot around 9:25 a.m. When the driver returned around 10:30 a.m., they noticed damage to the lock on the driver's side door. Police say it appeared someone used a screwdriver or other tool to try to "punch" open the lock, per the Sept. 1 crime blotter.
