Oklahoma State University: Inexperienced Producers Can Pick Up Helpful Insights At Lincoln County Meeting

"Our focus is on information for relatively inexperienced producers, although those with more experience may find topics of interest as well," said Cody Linker, Lincoln County Extension agricultural educator. "We wanted to have a one-stop shopping event where new producers can not only pick up management tips but gain insights about services provided through helpful organizations and agencies." There is no cost to attend. On-site registration will begin at 8 a.m. with sessions from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Participants are required to pre-register no later than Sept. 13. "We wanted to limit the number of people attending to maximize interaction opportunities between participants and session leaders," Linker said. "If somebody has a question, we want him or her to be able to ask it." The meeting will be outdoors, south of Deer Creek Baptist Church on the east side of State Highway 99. A lunch and refreshment breaks will be provided free of charge. Morning sessions will feature information about the National Resources Conservation Service state office, Veterans Affairs and Farmer Veteran Coalition, Lincoln County Conservation District and Langston University programs, among others. OSU Extension will also provide insights about beekeeping for beginners. Afternoon sessions will be led by OSU Extension educators and will focus on portable goat fencing, prescribed burning and farm infrastructure.
