TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa City Schools students, employees and visitors will be required to wear masks while indoors through Oct. 6 after the City Board of Education voted unanimously Tuesday in favor of extending its face-covering mandate.

TCS Superintendent Mike Daria pointed out that the matter would be revisited again during the regular meeting scheduled for Oct. 5.
"As much as we'd like to do longterm planning, this is a hard thing to do," he said. "The ability to look at this at small checkpoints along the way, I think is a good path and I appreciate the board's patience as we evaluate this regularly."
As of Tuesday's update to the school system's online COVID-19 dashboard, 1.65% of TCS students are positive for the virus or in isolation due to coming in close contact with a positive case.
