RYE, NY — When "A Taste of Rye" restaurant crawl was canceled this year due to pandemic concerns, organizers found a creative new way to raise funds for My Sisters' Place in the fight against domestic violence.
Julia B. Fee Sotheby's International Realty announced on Tuesday that the firm's Rye brokerage raised over $30,000 for the Westchester non-profit. Rather than an in-person event, the group hosted a virtual fundraiser. The money raised by the online event surpassed the total funds raised in 2020.
"With the pandemic, it's inspiring to see so many people still coming together for a great organization for the eighth straight year," Julia B. Fee Sotheby's International Realty Rye brokerage manager Pati Holmes said. "We would like to thank everyone for their continued efforts in supporting My Sisters' Place and participating in the fight against domestic violence and human trafficking."
All funds raised will go directly to My Sisters' Place in support of its efforts to end domestic violence by helping victims while focusing on community education and prevention. The organization also combats human trafficking throughout Westchester County, and offers advocacy, shelter and legal services to those in need.
The company hopes to bring back the in-person event in 2022.
