My three-piece rock band is looking for a new drummer. We play all originals. Influences include: Violent Femmes, Neil Young, Ramones, Descendents, Nirvana, Beatles, Lemonheads, Tom Petty. So, yeah, some punk and early-'90s alternative influences mixed with singer-songwriter-y stuff like Dylan, Petty and Young. Songs are very melody-centric and dynamics are key. Some are straightforward pop/rock stuff, some are "darker" slower-tempo songs (though still energetic and melodic). Also looking to try things out, improvise, and collaborate. Lots of instrumentals, too. Seeking a drummer committed to creating tight, interesting music. Someone with great control and dynamics and who makes creative choices to serve each song. Someone who is trying to DISCOVER their creative path, not merely trying to imitate what's come before. That may sound kinda grandiose and lame, but I think the sentiment is a worthwhile driver and pertinent. We practice every Sunday from noon-2 in my cozy basement in Fishtown come rain or shine. We have really intense (but fun) rehearsals. I respect everyone's time and aim to make the most of it.
