AXIOM Axiom is a design-led fabrication shop that specializes in custom, curated craftsmanship. We provide start-to-finish services to design and build activations, retail experiences, architectural environments, furniture and fixtures–anything that can be experienced in the real world. THE POSITION We seek a Janitor to join the Operations team! You'll handle daily general cleaning for two buildings, one off Riverside Way in NE and one off NE 6th and Davis near the Eastbank Commerce area. You’ll also periodically clean adjacent walk ways, parking lots and grounds and from time to time be called upon to assist with minor maintenance duties and equipment repairs helping to keep things orderly and in a functional condition. Driving between the locations as well as being a back up driver for pickups and drops offs for the Operations team means you’ll need a local and current driver’s license with a clean driving record. This hands-on position requires someone that is proactive, diligent, is ok with the focus of the role being the cleanliness and orderliness of the business and to whom problem solving comes second nature. You are highly organized, self-motivated and meticulous. The details matter to you. You want to help us show off our impressive 95k sq ft production facility and Studio spaces with pride. You have excellent communication skills. You support your team, but are totally ok working solo, as you are the only custodian. You report to the Operations Manager and work with the Operations Technician and Driver. You are personable, quick on your feet, and creative when it comes to ways to get the job done. You are driven and positive and enjoy catching things before the become problematic. You play a crucial role in daily operations and are committed to the behind the scenes work that helps lead to Axiom's success. THE WORK Perform all duties related to maintaining the general cleanliness and safety of the shop floor, shop management offices, storage warehouse, restrooms, break rooms, conference rooms, offices and common areas. As well, you’ll maintain the same level of cleanliness at the Creative Studio on two floors. This includes surfaces, floors, toilets, microwaves, refrigerators, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, washing windows, handling trash and recycling, maintaining inventory and stocking janitorial supplies. Sometimes it includes making coffee. You’ll also be responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of Axiom's vehicle fleet and rented vehicles. Maintenance tasks include general repairs (with direction and guidance) and light bulb/tube replacement. Day to day, you’ll need to be able to operate fork lifts, scissor lifts, lift trucks or hand trucks to convey, move or hoist materials to proper areas. You're at the forefront of maintaining building safety and security; keeping an eye out for hazards and helping to ensure lock up protocols. As in traditional manufacturing environments, you may be exposed to a high noise level for extended periods of time, related to equipment or production, but it is within OSHA limits and PPE is provided. You may perform physical duties at times, including lifting, carrying, moving and climbing. You must have the ability to access all areas of the warehouse. You will have exposure, at levels allowed by OSHA, to chemical substances and dust/pollen. We're looking for someone that is interested in a long term career with an opportunity for growth.
