Description
Jake Blount is an award-winning banjoist, fiddler, singer and ethnomusicologist based in Providence, RI. October 20th - Jake Blount - A versatile performer, Blount interpolates blues, bluegrass and spirituals into the old-time string band tradition he belongs to. He foregrounds the experiences of queer people and people of color in his work. His teachers include Rhiannon Giddens, Bruce Molsky and Judy Hyman. He has claimed first place in both the Banjo and the Traditional Band categories at the prestigious Appalachian String Band Music Festival in Clifftop, WV. Blount has shared his music and research at the Smithsonian Institution, Yale University, and Berklee School of Music, among other venues and institutions. He has also appeared on Radiolab, Soundcheck and NPR's Weekend Edition. He regularly teaches fiddle and banjo at festivals and camps like the Augusta Heritage Center, the Ashokan Center, and Midwest Banjo Camp. Blount tours domestically and internationally as a solo performer, with his duo Tui, and with his band The Moose Whisperers. Doors open at 7pm/ Music at 8pm New Vaccination Policy for the G.A.R. Hall and the Bronson Church. The Peninsula Foundation has joined in alliance with other Northeast Ohio music venues in announcing a new vaccination policy. Effective September 18th, beginning with The Watkins Family Hour, all indoor events at the G.A.R. Hall and the Bronson Church will require a proof of vaccination or a negative covid test result, date stamped no later than 72 hours prior to the event, for entry for all concerts and events. Hunker and serves area residents, visitors, and school children by promoting historic preservation, maintaining archives, preserving artifacts, and providing tours of our historic buildings. Our mission is to preserve the heritage, maintain the character and promote the vitality of Peninsula, Ohio and the Cuyahoga Valley by engaging the community through arts and educational programming and historic preservation.
