Support the Heartland Center for Jobs and Freedom as we gear up to win universal legal representation for all tenants (outdoors/vaccinated). It's on. The eviction moratorium is gone and eviction numbers will quadruple in short order if we do not act now. The Heartland Center is launching an aggressive campaign to achieve (1)universal access to free legal representation in the courts (right to counsel); (2) an eviction diversion program; and (3) zealous courtroom advocacy challenging every eviction. The crisis is avoidable. There are millions of dollars available in rental relief but the programs above are needed to ensure these dollars actually stop evictions. Legal representation works. Our track record proves that with an attorney, a tenant is 99% likely to avoid eviction and stay housed (this is true for over 200 cases we handled over a year). Without an attorney, the opposite is true. Yet thousands still lack access to lawyers. Join us as we stand with low-wage workers in the courtroom and in the halls of government to win permanent and lasting change. We need your comradery, your participation, and your financial support.
