Description

Housekeeper needed. I turn 70 in March 2021. I have a lovely 24 year-old daughter who lives about half time at our home and about half time at Her Place. I have been a widower for about 11 years I work full time for the University of Florida. I have been employed Member of the UF Faculty for over 23 years. When my late wife was alive, our house was always very orderly, clean and beautiful. We have always had a female UF student who came in once or twice a week to clean our home. My late wife died in 2010 from ALS. My daughter and I miss her very much. She was a wonderful person. Everyone loved her very much. Over 500 people came to her Memorial Service. I would like to hire another UF female student. My gait is a little bit unsteady as a result of an injury to my spinal cord and a 8 minute period of cardiac arrest that occurred while I was a patient in the Intensive Unit. The UF Health nurses and doctors in the Intensive Care Unit were able to get my heart started after 8 minutes. I began having brain seizures due to my heart stopping. They put me into an induced coma, pushed a balloon pump into my descending aorta (to help my heart), put a ventilator tube down my trachea to make sure I kept breathing. They kept me unconscious on the vent for three days. More recently, my private cardiologist performed a cardiac catheterization and gave me a clean bill of health. He did not find any blockages worth stunting and my ventricular output is 75%. My cardiologist was going to retire and he said that he wanted to have me undergo a cardiac catheterization so he could stent any blockages. He gave me a clean bill of health. I don't do much repair work on my house anymore. I don't go up on the roof anymore. I don't need any help with daily care activities. I drive to the UF Campus, Publix, friend's houses, etc. I also drive grad students and faculty to Miami and other cities to undertake field oriented research projects. I drive my cars. I go fishing in my offshore fishing boat by myself. I have a lovely GF who lives at her house over behind the hardware store across the street from Bentos and the movie theatre. I visit friends. I have received both of the Moderna Vaccines. Given my heart attack three years ago, I don't hang out with people who are not fully vaccinated. I don't smoke cigarettes (or dope), I don't drink alcohol or take recreational drugs. I am a typical white male who was born and raised up in Jacksonville. I moved to Gainesville in 1978. I am very close to my Daughter and GF. I have traveled to many foreign countries. Typical housework includes: cleaning the kitchen counters and floors, washing dishes in the dishwasher, running the vacuum cleaner, cleaning the bathrooms, washing the laundry (my clothes, sheets, etc) in our washing machine, drying the laundry in our dryer, folding the laundry and putting it away, and hanging clean "work" shirts and other hanging clothes on clothes hangers. I need some help getting rid of unnecessary clutter and "stuff", "Picking Up", "straightening up", clearing the clutter out my car, clearing the clutter out of my SUV, getting the Amazon cardboard boxes out for recycling, etc. If you respond, please tell me about yourself. Here are the questions I would like you to answer in your response to my rather long "Help Wanted" ad on Craigslist. You can answer them or not answer them. Some of those questions are for fun. I am very happy to answer these same questions when we meet. What is your work history? What make/model vehicle do you drive? Have you ever been arrested or incarcerated? Where have you traveled to? Where do you want to travel to if you had an unlimited travel fund? How much do you like (or dislike) doing housework and cleaning? What is your level of Education? Are you on Facebook? Are you single, divorced or married? Do you have children? Where are you from? What is your ethnicity? (I am German and Dutch and I don't know anything else about my family.) What are your skills and hobbies? What do you do for fun? Do you speak any foreign languages? What is your fantasy job? How would you spend your time if you had an unlimited amount of disposable money? Would you dislike cleaning for an old man who has difficulty putting things away and tends to create a chaotic home? What are your goals and dreams? What are your life goals? If you were "in my shoes" and you were a 70 year-old partially physically handicapped person and you placed a "Help Wanted, Part-time HouseCleaner and House Organizer" Post on Craigslist, what qualities would you want the people who responded to have? What would you want them to tell you about themselves? What would you want to know about the people who responded to your "Looking For A Part-Time Cleaning and Decluttering Person" on Craigslist?" What would you be curious about? What would be know about someone who is going to come into your living space? Do you have a computer? Is it a pc or a Mac? What foods do you like to eat? Where do you like to go out to eat? (I am laughing out loud as I type this on my laptop.) About Me-I will probably repeat myself as I rewrote this rather quickly. I have never been in jail, prison or arrested. I have never had to sit in the back of a patrol car or had handcuffs place on my wrists. I am a person with a very good reputation for my values, demeanor, character, etc. I have had many hard-working female UF students as great house keepers. Our past Sheriff Sadie Darnell is a good friend of mine. Linda Stump, the UF Police Chief is also a friend. I did a lot of stupid things when I was growing up. But, I never did anything to harm another person other than a fist fight in elementary school. The only laws that I break are the speed limit when I am driving to West Palm or Miami. I have lived in this house for 36 years. I won't let my friends come over as the house is a mess with empty Amazon boxes everywhere. I am definitely NOT a grumpy old man. My 24 year old daughter (and our beloved dog) live with me here in our home about 3-4 days per week. My daughter is an amazing person. She is a UF student and lives 3-4 days per week in her house near UF. I love to travel around the US and have been on three of four drives from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. I have been to a bunch of National Parks and most of the states. I used to go overseas about once a year and have been to a fair number of foreign countries. My last trip was about 18 months ago. A colleague at work encouraged me to go with him to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This is the same friend who talked me into going to India for two weeks of the hottest hot season you can imagine. He also got me to go to China, Macedonia and some other places with him. I used to ride the largest model Harley Davidson motorcycle they make. I sold it about two weeks before I ended up in the hospital for 67 days with a staph infection raging in my spinal cord in the Fall of 2017. I have permanent spinal cord injuries. I really enjoyed all the motorcycles I owned over the years and am relieved that I never had a really really bad crash. I had one bad crash where I slid down the road for about 30 yards and ended up in some shrubbery with a dislocated shoulder. I taught high school chemistry and physics for one year (I DID NOT LIKE TEACHING HIGH SCHOOL.). I used to have a large vegetable garden and about three working bee hives. The garden grew up in weeds and the bees died while I was in hospital for 67 days in the Fall of 2017. I was not home to feed them sugar water and honey for two months and all three hives died. I gave away all my bee keeping stuff to my neighbor. I graduated from High School and I received a Bachelors Degree from Rollins College on a science scholarship while I had about three other part time jobs. I received a free MS in Environmental Engineering Science from UF in 1978 courtesy of a fellowship from the US EPA. I was inducted into an honorary scholastic organization at UF and I received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Heidelberg University of Ohio. I have three older siblings. Both of my parents are deceased. My parents were good people. They struggled to have enough money to pay the mortgage. We were financially below most other middle class families in my neighborhood. I don't live anything like I lived when I was a kid and my parents had no money. I can afford to trade in a six month old Volvo for a brand new one and pay cash for the Volvo and the Ford. My Father had a terrible lung disease from WW2 and my Mother (a secondary education teacher at a children's hospital) seemed to be always throwing up blood. I love boats and going fishing. I have run aground more than once and had to spend the night (more than once) in the boat waiting for the high tide to float the boat off the sand bar or oyster bar that I hit hard coming out of my fishing hole heading back to the boat ramp. Getting stuck on a sand bar or an oyster bar in a falling tide is a humbling experience. I like to wait until we have a calm day on the Gulf and ride out to a fishing hole that is 50 miles out into the Gulf. I go fishing by myself a lot. You can come along if you want to. It is really fun when something really large (a shark?) takes the bait in 70 feet of water and starts stripping fishing line off the reel like crazy fast. Fishing is an adventure. I was in a wheel chair for about one year after I got out of the hospital. Some talented physical therapists taught me how to walk again. I sometimes fall. And, I always get back up. I drive a 2020 Volvo XC90 and I pull my boat (and haul students and faculty around the state) in a 2020 Ford Expedition Max Platinum (formerly called an Excursion) that has tons of accessories. I need help keeping the cars cleaned out as they tend to be a places where things like junk mail and other detritus accumulate. I have an old 1999 beat up 20 foot long aluminum boat for fishing in the creeks and flats. And, I have a really nice one year old 22 foot offshore fishing boat that I store under a roof at a commercial RV/Boat Storage Company. I own my home and I don't have any debt. I don't want to retire in the next couple of years. I got real lucky and bought (for the first time) some Vanguard Index funds when the stock market crashed in February of last year. Those index funds are now as high as they have ever been. Market Timing does not usually work out well for the person who is trying to time the purchase of stocks. I got real lucky. Some of my male friends who retired, just sort of faded away and died soon after they retired. I think that I will be OK financially when I decide to retire. I am single, I have a great GF and I don't plan on getting married again. My late wife died of ALS in 2010 and it broke my heart to see my dear wife fade away having ALS. Life brings great sorrows and great joys to all of us. If you made it to the end and you are interested, please shoot me an email using the CraigsList address system. I told all the stuff about myself in the paragraph above as I believe in self-disclosure. I have never sexually harassed any women. The one thing in my life that I do not like is the current state of my home for the last 36 years. I need some help.
