Description

Race to Zero Waste (R20W) is a California nonprofit which provides Zero Waste Education & Outreach in public spaces. As part of the Zero Waste Station Program, R20W is seeking highly motivated individuals to help assist the Eco Pop-up Program in Dolores Park, San Francisco and events in the Bay Area. These projects helps provide holistic, community-based waste management, zero waste education, organization of waste materials, and reporting the diversion results from each event. Our Zero Waste recruiting process is ongoing and is contingent on the project needs. R20W is looking for enthusiastic individuals that are not afraid to get their hands dirty. Some projects include Zero Waste Education (ongoing); Door-to-Door Composting Outreach; Zero Waste Event Services, Waste Characterization Studies and Technical Assistance. Typical Working Conditions The work is frequently outdoors and subject to weather (rain, sun, heat, cold, etc.). However, the Zero Waste Supervisor would notify all educators if air quality or outdoor conditions deem unsafe. Educators and Assistants are on their feet for most of the shifts, staffing collection stations or moving materials to bulk storage areas. Each worker is allowed two 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute break each shift. All Assistants must feel comfortable talking to the public with at least Level 2 Spanish, lift up to 30 pounds, and be able to stand for long hours. Training will be provided by our Zero Waste Managers.
