Fatal Hit-and-Run On Route 9W

CLARKSTOWN, NY — A woman who died walking on Route 9W early Saturday has been identified as Katrina Grigsby of Nyack. Clarkstown police said apparently the 40-year-old woman had been walking alongside the southbound lanes of Route 9W when she was struck by an unknown driver who didn't stop. Police said they were called to the intersection of Route 9W and Rockland Lake North by a northbound driver who stopped when he saw the victim lying on the roadway. The would-be Good Samaritan saw a second vehicle strike Grigsby, police said. That vehicle also left the scene but was later located in Haverstraw. The driver of that vehicle has charges pending against him, police said. The Clarkstown Detective Bureau is still seeking information on the first vehicle that struck the victim. Police ask anyone who may have been in the area and has additional information or possibly video of any passing vehicles from 3:30 - 4 a.m., to contact the department at (845) 639-5800.
