3 Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On I-80: Illinois State Police

WILL COUNTY, IL —Three people died in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 early Monday morning, according to officials. Police said I-80 west was closed in the area for more than four hours. Officials said a Chicago woman driving a 2011 Brown Kia Optima was going the wrong way on I-80 when she ran head-on into another car, killing her as well as two people in the other vehicle. At 12:17 a.m., police said the Optima was headed east on I-80 west near Wolf Road and was in the left lane, where it hit a 2019 red Nissan Versa. The deadly crash occurred as the Versa was in the left lane on I-80 west approaching milepost 144, according to police. These people were pronounced deceased at the scene, officials said: Rishaunda R. Buckley, 28, of Chicago (driver of the Kia Optima)Amanda R. Fouche, 30, of Aurora (driver of the Nissan Versa)Kyle C. Vance, 36, of Aurora (passenger in the Nissan Versa) Police said I-80 was closed to westbound traffic until about 5:25 a.m. so investigators could process the scene of the triple fatal crash. Vehicles were diverted off at La Grange Road, officials reported. Autopsies were performed Monday, Sept. 6, according to the Will County Coroner's Office, which said the final causes and manners of death were pending.
