Forestry Worker/Driver/Mechanic

Immediate need for person to work statewide from now till the end of Sept assisting forestry crew with forest herbicide applications on Bureau of Forestry, Pa Game Commission and private forestlands. We stay on each jobsite and move from site to site almost daily. We provide RV camping on site which is equipped with generator and essentials. Basic food is provided. Approx. 60 to 80 hours of work per week (lots of overtime). You are responsible for transportation to and from job sites if you elect to have time off during this time. THIS IS A FULL TIME POSITION with other forestry work done the rest of the year including: deer fence construction, fence dismantling, precommercial timber stand improvement (tree cutting and mowing), timber marking and cruising, backpack herbicide spraying, equipment maintenance, cleaning, landscaping, etc. Much of this work is mechanized with skid steer and UTV support. During the "Off-Season" we work a regular 40-hour week with weekends off; often striving to work 4 - 10-hour days with 3-day weekends when weather permits. The company shuts down approx. 4 weeks each year around Thanksgiving, deer season, Christmas and inclement weather (e.g. snow days); 3 weeks per year of shutdown time is...with-pay. You may have up to 2 weeks (80 hours) unpaid personal time at your discretion. Additional overtime may be available at the discretion of the employer. Candidate must enjoy working in remote areas of PA, hold a valid driver's license, have a good driving record and possess one or more of the following: • Experience with mid-sized truck driving and trailer towing • CDL Class A • Mechanic and/or welding experience • Skid steer and/or log skidder experience • Chainsaw experience • Pesticide Applicators License If you don't have the license or experience you will likely receive it -- Training provided by employer.
