Description
Make Food Not Waste & Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church is hosting Brunch-To-Go Pop Up to support Hurricane Ida relief efforts The Detroit Free Press honored Chef Ederique Goudia as one of its 10 Food Fighters for 2020 -- and she’s not done fighting. Goudia, lead chef for Make Food Not Waste, is collaborating with Detroit-area small businesses to host a week of popups to raise money for Hurricane Ida’s victims in Wallace, Louisiana. This is a personal fight for Goudia, who’s family is from Wallace, which is about 50 miles outside of New Orleans. Sunday, September 12th, Make Food Not Waste in partnership with Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church will host a Brunch-To-Go Pop Up to help raise money for Hurricane Ida relief efforts. Brunch will include: Flaky, southern-style biscuits, housemade strawberry basil jam, seasonal vegetable quiche, breakfast sausage, and creamy grits. Brunch can be picked up curbside in the Church parking lot immediately following Church service from 11:30am-1pm. Tickets are limited! The fundraising parties will send much needed resources to this Southeast Louisiana community. All proceeds will go directly to hurricane relief. "Hurricane Ida has devastated Southeast Louisiana along with our beloved community of Wallace,” said Jo Banner, founder of the nonprofit Descendants Project, which Goudia and the Detroit businesses are partnering with. “Our residents are now in the process of recovering and rebuilding without electricity during the hottest time of the year. We are working to provide a cooling center, hot meals, charging stations, gift cards and any other resources residents may need in their efforts to rebound. Any help would be appreciated."
