Press release from the City of Austin: September 2, 2021 Case: 21-2440005 Date: Wednesday, September 1, 2021 Time: 12:01 a.m. Location: 2100 Block of Burton Dr. Deceased: 34-year-old Black male. Release of name pending Next of Kin notification On Wednesday, September 1, 2021, Austin 9-1-1 received multiple shots fired calls in the 2100 Block of Burton Dr. Austin Police (APD) officers and Austin-Travis County EMS arrived on scene and located a male subject with gunshot wounds. It also appeared as if the male had been run over by a vehicle. Despite life-saving measures, the male subject succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 12:09 a.m. by Dr. Escott. Homicide investigators and crime scene technicians responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. On September 2, 2021, the Travis County Medical Examiner's office conducted an autopsy and ruled the cause of death as gunshot wounds and blunt force trauma injuries. The manner of death was ruled Homicide.
