Starts September 17th (Fridays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for 6 weeks) Starts September 17th (Fridays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for 6 weeks) For beginner and intermediate students, this class explores the many techniques involved in taking ideas from conception to the completion of wearable metal art. Learn how to make custom gemstone jewelry, including handmade bezel settings. Individual students’ skills will be expanded as we delve into sawing, soldering, riveting, texturing and cold connections. Non-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. Workshop fee does not include materials. Wire and cabochons available to purchase at first class. Open to adults only. About the instructor: Holly Holtz is a student earning her PhD in Visual Arts, Aesthetics, and Philosophy at the Institute for the Doctoral Studies of Visual Arts in Portland, ME. She first experienced wheel throwing at the tender age of seven, and has been exploring ceramics ever since. She also dabbles in painting, sculpture, blacksmithing, jewelry making, knife making, woodworking, screen-printing, photography, sewing, felting, mixed-media / found object collage, and leather tooling.
