Route and more information at www.Bike2Trenton.org FREE T Shirt for all riders. Return to Newark via NJ Transit, a prearranged ride from a friend or family member or...if you have it in you, ride all the way back. A few cyclists are planning to do so and make a century of it. WHY THIS EVENT NOW... Imagine if you could ride your bicycle, run or even just walk on a beautiful trail from Montclair through Glen Ridge, Bloomfield, Belleville, Newark, Kearny, Secaucus and into Jersey City and never have to deal with aggressive and dangerous cars, trucks or buses. Imagine a nearly 9 mile completely off-road rite of way connecting these 8 municipalities in this most densely populated part of New Jersey. We have before us the opportunity to make this a reality. The New Jersey Bike Walk Coalition in partnership with the 9-11 National Memorial Trail and the Open Space Institute are in close negotiations with Governor Murphy's office to finalize a funding package to make the purchase of an unused rail line presently owned by Norfolk -Southern RR and convert the land into a linear park for the people. The Partners are confident that this will be completed before the expiration of the agreement contract deadline of years end. If this agreement is allowed to expire, Norfolk-Southern RR will then have the rite to sell off the land in pieces to developers. We believe that the Governor will not let that happen but we must show the Governor that the support for this park and trail continues to grow as more people learn about it particularly within the cycling community and, that's where you come in. We need you to ride with us from Newark to Trenton on Sunday September 26th and create this huge "Thanks In Advance" active statement to the Governor and his staff in Trenton for getting this over the finish line.
