With Special Guest Eddie Boles SEPTEMBER ZOOM FIRST FRIDAY NETWORKING BREAKFAST FRIDAY, 10th SEPTEMBER The Consulate's monthly First Friday Networking Breakfast and speaker series will return this month on the second Friday, September 10, 2021, with our newly arrived Consul General Helena Nolan. We are grateful to be joined by FDNY Battalion Chief Eddie Boles as we pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks on this the 20th anniversary of September 11, 2001. Edward (Eddie) P. Boles was appointed to the FDNY on May 9, 1993 and was promoted to Battalion Chief in the FDNY in April of 2019. Chief Boles is currently assigned to the 17th Battalion in the South Bronx and is the former company commander of Ladder 59 (The Blue Devils) in the Bronx and a member of the FDNY Ceremonial Unit. Eddie Boles is a first generation Irish-American born in Woodside, Queens. His mother, Kathleen (nee McGee) is from Fintown, Co. Donegal and his father, Christopher Boles is from Geevagh, Co. Sligo. He is an active participant in many organizations in the Irish-American community and has been recognized and honored numerous times by various organizations in the community. The event will also feature award-winning poet Jess Traynor, who will present a new poem commissioned to mark to mark the 20th anniversary. Composer Carl Corcoran will speak about his song The Phoenix: A Tribute to 9/11 which will receive its US Premiere at the event, with a video featuring ArdĂș and members of the Palestrina and St Mary's Cathedral choirs. Due to the continued uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic and increased transmission rates in the New York City area, this event will be held virtually on Zoom. While it cannot match the experience of a traditional in-person gathering, please join us on Friday, September 10 at 8:00am EDT as we pay tribute to those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, hear from Eddie, and virtually come together as a community to reflect and pay our respects to the resilient people of New York City.
