Description

Learn to create glass mosaics for your garden. Students work on a project of their choice. Mosaic Mondays: Glass Gardens / 4 week Class Join me Monday mornings in September to work on mosaics for the garden. Things are heating up here in Texas and some blossoms are fading, but together we will create colorful art for the garden that never needs watering. Beginners and more advanced students welcome. Many materials provided and students are encouraged to also bring in additional glass tile, dishes and other elements for their projects. Materials I will have on hand include: glass gems, stained glass, vitreous tile, cinca. Thinset, stepping stones, some river rocks. Students can work on any outdoor project of their choosing. We will explore a variety of substrate options including: inexpensive concrete pavers, styrofoam orbs, edging, bricks, rocks, wedi board shapes and metal shapes. Some substrates will be provided while others can be purchased on-line or at local garden centers. Each class will start at 10:30 with a brief slideshow exploration of mosaic art environments around the globe. We will sip our coffee downstairs and be transported to magical mosaic worlds before we start on our own projects. We will head upstairs by 11:00 a.m. to start on our mosaic projects. The treehouse studio is my 700 square foot home studio. We do have an outdoor lift for anybody with mobility issues and to help carry heavy supplies up and down. This is a smoke-free home studio that we share with 2 small terriers. We have a mini fridge for you to store your lunch. Location: 1247 North Selva Drive Masks are optional, yet reccomended for the unvaccinated folks. EACH Monday in September 10:30 - 2:00 Tree House Studio is the shared creative space of Rebecca and Dan Collins. We offer a variety of art workshops for adult students at all levels. Our offerings include: glass mosaic, mixed media collage, printmaking, jewelry and more. We also host visiting guest artists throughout the year.
