ORANGE COUNTY, CA —Students are back in the classroom at Chapman University in Orange County this week and 200 of them have been infected with the coronavirus, the school says. Hundreds are in isolation as officials attempt to figure out the cause.
According to reports from KTLA5, roommates are being isolated and students are being moved around the school as the cause for the outbreak is sought. Zoom classes are being offered for students who are being quarantined, they say.
One student reported to the media that they have seen students get a text and leave a class as they were notified of coronavirus exposure.
KTLA reports that the university tested almost 1,000 students Wednesday, and received a positivity rate of 6.9 percent at the school.
The university reported that 89 percent of its students were vaccinated.
