PITTSBURGH, PA — The Steelers picked up secondary help on Friday, obtaining cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon from the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for a 5th round draft pick in 2023. The deal will be finalized pending a physical by Witherspoon. Witherspoon was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round in 2017. He spent four seasons with the team before signing with the Seahawks as an unrestricted free agent this offseason. According to the Steelers, Witherspoon played in 47 games and started 33 with the 49ers. He has 116 tackles, four interceptions and 24 passes defended. He played college football at the University of Colorado. The Steelers released defensive lineman Henry Mondeaux to make room for Witherspoon on the roster.
