PITTSBURGH– The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation Western Pennsylvania/West Virginia chapter welcomes the community back in person to the fourth annual Night of Steel premier fundraising event on Saturday, Sept. 25 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Together with community partners, volunteers and donors, Night of Steel celebrates the Foundation’s mission to cure Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases. As part of the celebration, the chapter will honor Dr. Eva Szigethy, Professor of Psychiatry, Pediatrics and Medicine and Director of Behavioral Health at UPMC, and Jodi Amos, managing partner at 4Rivers Wealth Management, for their dedication to furthering the Foundation’s mission. “We are so excited to have everyone back together again in person in support of our work to cure IBD and improve the lives of the 3.1 million Americans living with these illnesses,” said Eric Hecker, executive director of the Foundation’s Western Pennsylvania/West Virginia chapter. “We are thrilled to honor Eva and Jodi for the incredible work they do for our chapter and community. Thanks to our Black and Gold Sponsors: UPMC and UPMC Health Plan, PNC and the Giant Eagle Foundation, and so many other partners, we can come together to celebrate the Foundation’s milestones, our partnerships and our local community.” The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is the leading nonprofit organization uniting to cure IBD and care for those affected by these diseases. For 50 years, the Foundation has invested over $384 million to accelerate critical research. The Foundation’s Western Pennsylvania/West Virginia chapter engages and empowers local patients and caregivers through support groups, partnerships with regional healthcare providers, and educational and advocacy programs. “I am so proud to be a part of this year's Night of Steel and would like to thank the Foundation for their unwavering dedication to those who suffer from a disease that impacts their daily lives in so many ways,” said Becky Flaherty, Night of Steel Committee Chair. "We are grateful for the generosity and support of our volunteers, donors and corporate sponsors who will make this year's event an amazing celebration and continue to support the Foundation's crucial research and uphold the mission of improving the quality of life for those living with IBD, and to one day find a cure." Night of Steel will be an outdoor event held Saturday, Sept. 25 from 7-11 p.m. at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, who donated use of the space to the organization.
