Historical Society Plans Downtown Lemont Walking Tour

LEMONT, IL — The Lemont Historical Society will host a downtown Lemont walking tour on Sept. 11. The society said the last tour was so popular, it decided to add another tour for those interested. The tour will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m., and will begin at the Old Stone Church, 306 Lemont St. The walk includes two flights of stairs and a railroad crossing, and is 3/4 of a mile. According to the society, the walk will include the history of some of the churches, murals, the war memorial, the gazebo and other historic buildings and people in Lemont. It is $10 per adult, $7 for seniors and $5 per child. Cash or check only.
