Volunteers Needed For 20th Anniversary Lew Blond Run

Press release from Northbrook/Glenview SD 30: Sept. 3, 2021 The Lew Blond Memorial 5K Run/Walk is held to honor Lew Blond, a Maple School teacher who passed away from Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS) in February 2000. He was an exceptional and dedicated educator of the applied arts and was revered and cherished by his students, his colleagues and the parents of the children he served. Lew Blond's family has attended and helped support this race since its inception. The upcoming 20th Anniversary race on October 16 will now take place in the Wescott School neighborhood. Proceeds benefit ALS research through the Les Turner ALS Foundation, scholarships for prospective teachers at the Glenbrook High Schools and special District 30 projects. The Lew Blond Memorial 5K Run/Walk receives extensive media support and coverage. The event is among the top running events in the north suburban area. The 2018 race drew over 1,000 participants and volunteers. A significant portion of the funds raised from the Lew Blond Run has been donated to the Les Turner (ALS) Foundation. This school year we will hold TWO Lew Blond Runs: The 20th Annual Run will be held Saturday, October 16 and the second race of the school year will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022. We are currently looking for volunteers for the Lew Blond Run in October. Please mark your calendar and consider volunteering to help with the pre-race (Thursday, October 14 or Friday, October 15) and day of race duties on Saturday, October 16. Specific duties are listed below.
