Description

Kids Against Hunger Bay Area is a 501(3) (C) nonprofit working towards ending child starvation. They rely on volunteers, donations, and sponsorships to reach their goal of feeding children and empowering individuals of all ages. After volunteers package food, they partner with organizations that ensure it is received and distributed. On August 21, our club Fremont Bridge Rotary aided in packaging food along with San Ramon Rotary that would go towards Haiti after it was hit with devastating natural disasters. Rotary is an international organization that focuses on various communal and international causes that can be found on our website. Fremont Bridge Rotary is one chapter of this larger organization that is specific to our community. Volunteers of the event measured and scooped white rice, fortified crushed soy, a dehydrated vegetable blend, and twenty-one vitamins and minerals into sealed packages in the hopes of helping hungry children and families. After packaging food at the Kids Against Hunger warehouse, meals will be dropped on Haiti by a branch of the US military. Together, the Fremont and San Ramon chapter of Rotary and Kids Against Hunger Bay Area packed 8,424 meals! There is still more work to do, but the effort on Saturday was a step toward a greater goal of helping others! If you are interested in getting involved in community service and resonate with the cause, please feel free to connect with us on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and at our email [email protected].
