PHOENIX, AZ — The Phoenix man who called himself the "QAnon Shaman" pleaded guilty in federal court Friday for his participation in the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol riot. As part of a plea deal, 34-year-old Jacob Chansley pleaded guilty to one count of obstruction of an official proceeding, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia. Chansley, who has since denounced the QAnon movement, was easy to pick out of the crowd at the capitol Jan. 6, as he was shirtless, wearing face paint and sporting a hat with horns. The statutory maximum for Chansley's crime is 20 years in prison, according to the news release. He has been imprisoned since his arrest Jan. 9. His sentencing is set for Nov. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Chansley was one of the first 30 rioters to enter the Capitol through a broken door at 2:14 p.m. on Jan. 6, according to court documents. More than 570 people in almost all 50 states have been arrested for crimes related to the Jan. 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol, according to the news release.
