Please help

I have had my 5 year old son for 5 years by myself. His father was arrested when he was 2 weeks old and just recently got out in colorado. He was doing pretty well I thought and I have been having some bad health issues due to a breast implant that I had in 2009 in colorado so the father was going to help me and keep my son for no more then 2 weeks while I had surgery to have implant removed. Three days later I was back in Iowa at my appointment and I received a phone call saying I was being served for paternity. I left my appointment and met the lady because I had no idea. He only had my son for one day before he filed. When he filed he lied and said I had abandoned my son and said he had him way longer. He also said that there was no child support order amd there is in Iowa which just happened to be modified so I'm guessing this is why he did this. I had to get a lawyer in Iowa and now I need one in colorado. I drove back to Colorado but he would not let me see my son. I thought I was doing the right thing and really needed that surgery. I called his parole officer but he told me it was his word against mine. I have half of the 2800 I need. I have never asked for help but I want my son back. The last time I talked to him he was crying for me to come get him. Can anyone help please. I have proof of our text messages as well as pictures and statements.
