Once upon a time, Americans were strong, resilient people who could meet any challenge head on. These days, Americans have become fragile and non resilient. Modern Americans complain constantly. Modern Americans want everything handed to them rather than putting in the effort to earn it. In the old days, Americans had gratitude for all of the blessing sin their life. Now a days, Americans whine if our coffee is too hot or we have to stand in line for three minutes at the bank or grocery store. In the old days, a bad day was having a loved one die or getting laid off from our job. These days, running out of hair gel constitutes a bad day. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of plusses to this softer gentler American. But there are also a lot of minuses. Could you imagine if we had to send our fragile young generation into war. Todays youth has no grit. They are non resilient and not rugged. Today we live in a society where people bring electric generators on a camping trip. Our homes and cars are air conditioned even in mild climates. Our coffee is prepared for us rather than brewed. Every child receives a trophy regardless of ability to achievement. Todays America has no idea how to change out a spare tire. We hire people to do stuff like that. There is a lot to be said for people having a certain amount of grit and durability. Overly pampered people results in humans that act and think like silver spoon fed Donald Trump.
