Join Columbus Gives Back packaging food boxes for the families of the YMCA Van Buren Shelter Columbus Gives Back invites you to join us at the YMCA Van Buren Center to serve dinner for the residents. Not only does the center serve as a shelter for the homeless, but it offers housing and employment assistance, Southeast, Inc. treats medical and behavioral health as a federally qualified health center, and Freedom a la Cart feeds three meals a day, seven days a week. What: The Van Buren Center will be opening an additional location for our family shelter. This location will not have a kitchen available to prepare meals. Please consider helping us by donating packaging donated food items into boxes. Where: Van Buren Center, 595 Van Buren Dr. Columbus, OH 43223 When: Thursday, September 23rd (5:00pm - 7:00pm) Event Leaders: [email protected] COVID-19 Precautions: Columbus Gives Back is following all recommended social / hygiene protocols. Masks are no longer required for outdoor events but please bring one to the event in case our nonprofit partners require them. Masks and social distancing are still required for all indoor events. About YMCA Van Buren: The mission of the Van Buren shelter is to support and strengthen the community by addressing the needs of individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The YMCA provides a safe and healthy environment and assists individuals while they are resolving their housing crisis. Donations: Please consider bringing items to donate to their food drive! Can goods (ravioli, Vienna sausage, vegetables, fruit, etc). Can openers Drinks Snacks (fruit snacks, meat stick, fruit cups, granola/ protein bars, crackers, etc) Non-perishable food items (mac cheese in cup, Ramon noodles, Hormel meals, soup in a cup, etc)About Columbus Gives Back: We love Columbus, young professionals, and getting involved! Our mission is to connect young professionals across central Ohio and engage them in our communities through 35-40 social volunteer and philanthropic opportunities per month. #SocialTwist: We have begun re-introducing social twists, where we invite volunteers to hang out with us after an event to have fun doing something local! As of May 1st, outdoor/patio social twists will be coordinated at the discretion of event leaders and volunteers.
