Longmont Department of Public SafetyOffice of Emergency Management CERT program The City of Longmont Community Emergency Response Team will The City of Longmont Community Emergency Response Team will be holding its annual CERT Basic Training on Tuesday nights: September 14, 2021 to November 2, 2021. All classes are scheduled to be held in person at the Longmont Recreation Center at 310 Quail Road in the Quail Room. Class hours: 6pm - 8pm (Plan to start at exactly 6pm and be out of class by 8pm. The building closes at 8pm) _________________________________________________________________________ CERT Training empowers community members to assist themselves, their families, neighbors, and community before, during, and after disasters. _________________________________________________________________________  This Basic course will include the components necessary to get you started and capable of performing basic CERT functions.  Schedule and Course Summary: September 14 - Unit 1: Intro / Disaster Preparedness September 21 - Unit 2: Fire Safety and Utility Controls September 28 - Unit 3: Disaster Medical Operations Part I October 5 - Unit 4: Disaster Medical Operations Part II October 12 - Unit 5: Light Search and Rescue Operations October 19 - Unit 6: CERT Organization October 26 - Unit 7: Disaster Psychology, Unit 8: Terrorism and CERT November 2 - Unit 9: Course Review, Final Exam November 8 - Contingency hold date if necessary Saturday, November 13 - Disaster Simulation Exercise PLEASE NOTE: - Students must complete all units to receive a certificate - Make up days can be arranged if absolutely necessary - Class size will be 20-30 (minimum 15) - Please encourage your friends and neighbors to join It is preferred that students take IS-317: Introduction to Community Emergency Response Teams to prepare for the class. *NOTE* This class must have at least 15 people registered in order to take place REGISTRATION ENDS on September 10, 2021 at noon or if the class reaches capacity.   Students must complete a photo release and a liability waiver in order to participate. Forms must be submitted by the end of the first night of class.  There are 25 seats available for this class. All students must be 18 years of age or older, and preference will be given to individuals who live and work in Longmont, CO. You must attend all sessions in order to complete the certification. However, if you can not make one class you may attend the missed class in the next class cycle (to be announced at a later date).  Please email ([email protected]) to make notification of which sessions you will not be able to attend.
