A one day workshop that discusses the current use of wood in upholstery frames-materials, equipment, software, design, processing, etc. A one day workshop that discusses the cutting edge of making wooden upholstery frames for upholstery furniture. Industry professionals discuss the cutting edge thinking about designing frames, software, CNC routers, tooling, sourcing materials, joinery, training employees, factory layout, lumber, plywood, OSB, etc. This workshop typically hosts 85 industry professionals and is a free workshop where the City of Conover offers the use of the Conover Community Meeting Room at no charge and a group of vendors provide the buffet lunch. Harry Watt of NCSU Wood Products Extension is the host of this workhshop that has been held in the Hickory area since 2006. Additionally in February has been a supporting training day with additional insights into the field of upholstery furniture. This training day is held at the North Carolina Center for Engineering Technologies in Hickory. Details to be announced at the Upholstery Frame Workshop on November 11th. This workshop is also sponsored by the Wood Education and Resource Center of Princeton, WV and is a unit of the US Forest Service.
