We're partnering with Ya Fav Trashman to help clean up in North Philly... let's do it together! On Saturday, September 11, we're really pumped to partner with Philly's very own Terrill Haigler, aka Ya Fav Trashman! Terrill will be leading us in a clean up around North Philly. We'll kick off the morning by meeting up in front of JM Mini Market at 16th & Clearfield just south of Temple University Hospital. Once we hear a few words from Terrill, we'll get to cleaning up the neighborhood. Want to know a bit about Ya Fav Trashman? We thought so. Terrill is a former sanitation worker for the city of Philadelphia. These days, he's an advocate for the sanitation industry. His goal is for there to be zero litter by 2025. You can find Terrill and learn about his latest efforts on Instagram at @_yafavtrashman Event details: Street parking is available, there's also public transit via the Broad Street Line and bus, or AmtrakDress according to the weather in clothing conducive to picking up trash and you can get dirty in. Sun protection, hat, sunglasses, etc. You are welcome to bring your own work gloves if you would like, though we do have a stash.We recommend bringing your own reusable water bottle!We'll be picking up trash in illegal dumping areas and the neighborhood, as well as pulling weeds in sidewalks and streets.We will have work gloves, trash pickers, and garbage bags available, but please feel free to bring your own as well.If you have any questions or issues registering, please email us at [email protected] and we'll make sure you are ready to go! Cheers, VU PHL The concept is simple - we volunteer with a different nonprofit organization in Philadelphia on the second Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., then spend the afternoon at a local bar for food, drinks, networking and fun with fellow, like-minded individuals. This program was created to give young professionals the opportunity for inspiring and rewarding experiences that will help forge a passion for future volunteering – both with our organization and on their own. Volunteering Untapped was born out of the realization that young professionals in Baltimore, Chicago, and Philadelphia want to give back to their community, but simply don’t know the best way to get involved. We solve that problem. Our mantra? Volunteering…made easy.
