The City of Orlando Installs New Midblock Pedestrian Crosswalk with the Latest in State-of-the-Art Technology
WHAT: As part of the city's continued efforts through the Vision Zero initiative to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2040 and as a Future-Ready city that embraces technology to address community challenges, the city recently installed a new midblock pedestrian crosswalk that features the latest in technology, automated flashing beacons, on Primrose Drive, south of Amelia Street.
These new beacons utilize state-of-the-art passive detection technology through infrared heat profiles to identify pedestrians or bicyclists within the detection zone to automatically activate the beacon without needing to push the button.
