Description
NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Residents of New Rochelle got a noon-time update Thursday from City Hall in the wake of Tropical Storm Ida.
The update said that Wednesday night's record-breaking rainfall resulted in widespread flooding throughout the region.
Several city roads remain obstructed by damaged pavement or abandoned cars. The city is addressing these, but residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and to use caution while driving.
About 1,000 residents do not have electricity; there is no restoration timetable.
Optimum service is down for about 50,000 households, throughout the Sound Shore, and Altice is working to restore internet and communications as soon as possible.
