TRUMBULL, CT — A 32-year-old registered nurse from Trumbull is accused of buying a fake COVID-19 vaccination card from a woman in New Jersey who called herself "AntiVaxMomma" on Instagram, according to federal prosecutors.
The Connecticut Post reported that Adrianna Avila bought a fraudulent card from Jasmine Clifford, of Lynhurst, NJ, who the feds say sold hundreds of the fake cards to health care workers and others.
Avila was arrested at her home in Trumbull by federal marshals and Trumbull police.
U.S. News and World Report wrote that prosecutors said that Clifford worked with a co-conspirator named Nadayza Barkley, of Bellport, Long Island, who for additional cash would enter the buyer's information into the New York State vaccination database.
Prosecutors reportedly claim that Avila and more than a dozen other people are involved in the fake card scam.
