HEMPSTEAD, NY — A man is in critical condition after being hit by a car while crossing a road in Hempstead early Friday morning. According to police, a 66-year-old man was crossing at the intersection of North Franklin Avenue and Fulton Avenue at 5:55 a.m. when he was hit by a Ford Fusion driven by a 54-year-old man. The pedestrian suffered severe head trauma and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he is listed in critical condition. The driver remained at the scene. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
