MARINE CORPS SGT. Johanny Rosario Pichardo, 25 Lawrence, Massachusetts Marine Corps Sgt. Johanny Rosario Pichardo, a native of Lawrence, Massachusetts, graduated from Lawrence High School. Affectionately called “Rosie” by her seemingly endless array of friends, Pichardo had equally as many seemingly endless accomplishments in her short life. A former school teacher who spent her off-duty time working with dementia patients, she not only received two medals during her 15-months with the U.S. Marines, but also received a commendation for her work as a supply chief—an executive leadership role usually held by someone of higher rank. Her dedication to community service always came first. Just before she was deployed, her boyfriend put on a mini prom to make up for the one she missed when she was a member of the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps.
